1. Changes may be made to these Terms and Conditions at any time. It is your responsibility as a user to make sure that you are aware of them, by checking for any changes on a regular basis. Changes will become effective as soon as they are posted. If you continue to use our site after the posting of changes to these Terms, it means that you accept any such changes.
2. Discussion Forum and Posts to Surgeons and Eye Clinics
This section governs use of the discussion forum, and applies to all users either directly or indirectly, registered or otherwise.
2.1 This website is not intended to be a scientific discussion group or a forum for opinionated debates. It serves primarily as a forum for communication and provision of INFORMATION concerning all aspects of refractive surgery. The views expressed on this forum are not necessarily those of LaserVisionForum.
2.2 Posting should be limited to factual information or opinion relating to personal experiences. Third party accounts are generally not accepted. The content of any post is the sole responsibility of the contributor and not LaserVisionForum.com, unless specifically identified otherwise. Contributors are legally responsible for the content they post and LaserVisionForum, its agents and associates are not liable for inappropriate content or that which contravenes the laws of England and Wales.
2.3 In posting, contributors agree to indemnify LaserVisionForum.com and its agents in respect of any action or liability resulting from their posts. You are responsible for the content of the messages you post and any consequences that flow from such posting(s).
2.4 LaserVisionForum has no obligation to moderate the forums. However, we reserve the right to issue warnings to or remove users who break the terms of service and user guidelines.
2.5 As a site presenting a responsible and respectable view of refractive surgery, posters will be expected to conduct themselves responsibly and with decorum. Libellous postings are not acceptable neither are posts which could be considered defamatory, containing expletives or emotional outburst. These types of postings will either be deleted or otherwise edited before being posted on the site.
2.6 The Webmaster and nominated moderators reserve the right to exclude, modify, grammatically correct/change, move and exert the right to discontinue threads and topics. Abusive content will not be tolerated; neither will the use of false email addresses, multiple aliases or misrepresentation of identity. Multiple posts of essentially the same content may be summarily deleted, as may “off-topic” posts and spam. Our decision is final.
2.7 Any reference to discount vouchers, competitions, two for one offers and the like will be regarded as advertising and contrary to the site ethic. As such it will be heavily edited or deleted.
2.8 Requests for post deletion or edits must be sent to email@example.com and must specifically reference posts. Any such requests can be rejected without reason. If granted, requests for post deletion may take up to 90 days to process. Once again, our decision is final.
2.9 Whilst primarily intended for the use of pre & post op eye surgery patients, contributions from clinic staff & surgeons are welcome and in the interests of transparency disclosure is requested. Any form of direct or indirect advertising is specifically forbidden and any instances will be immediately removed. Contributors are referred to their obligations under the 'The Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (UCPD)’ (adopted 11th May 2005) which applies to false testimonials in addition to more obvious misleading commercial practices.
3.0 Accuracy of Content: Whilst all attempts are made to maintain and ensure the site contains accurate and up-to-date with information on all forms of Refractive Eye Surgery in the UK there is no guarantee that this will always be the case. LaserVisionForum makes no representations about the suitability, reliability, availability, timeliness, and accuracy of the information provided on this site for any purpose. LaserVisionForum.com reserves the right to correct any information provided.

4.0 Copyright: Except where specifically detailed otherwise, LaserVisionForum claims copyright on data published on this site.
5.0 Eye Clinics and Surgeons:
5.1 Eye Clinics and Surgeons are invited to “claim” their listing before any postings can be accepted. Each clinic and surgeon will have the opportunity to at no charge provide information for the benefit of the user. Eye Clinics and Surgeons are responsible for the accuracy of the content of their listing. In keeping with the mission of LaserVisionForum.com, before their listing becomes live, each clinic and surgeon will be required to demonstrate through their patient care pathway and by answering a brief questionnaire that they follow the principles and standards advocated by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Regretfully Eye Clinics and Surgeons who do not follow the standards will not be listed on this website.
5.2 Eye Clinics and Surgeons to maintain their listing will be required to confirm that they continue to follow the standards as in 5.1
5.3 Eye Clinics and Surgeons may amend their listing at any time, however will be charged a small administrative fee.
6.1 LaserVisionForum is not responsible for any user-generated content on the site. Although advice might be given by users with the best of intentions, this might not always be accurate or correct. Advice on this forum is not a substitute for a thorough consultation by an ophthalmologist.
6.2 Whilst all attempts are made to maintain site accurate with the provision of up-to-date information on all forms of Refractive Eye Surgery in the UK, there is no guarantee that this will be the case. If you are considering any form of refractive eye surgery, you use the information on this site at your own risk. It should not be relied upon for medical, legal, or financial decisions, and appropriate specific professional advice should be sought.
6.3 LaserVisionForum is not responsible for the content of external websites and links to external sites should not be taken as an endorsement of their content
6.4 There is no guarantee that your access to this site, or its content will be delivered uninterrupted, timely or error-free, or that the site will be free from viruses or other harmful properties. 7.0 Privacy Statement
7.1 LaserVisionForum respects the privacy of visitors. We will only collect personally identifiable data, such as your name, address, telephone number, when it is voluntarily submitted to us. A valid email address is required.
7.2 LaserVisionForum, its agents and sponsors will use any such information to comply with your request for information. Occasionally, we may use that information to contact you. Your name will be displayed in clinic and surgeon reviews, but not your email. This may be to validate a post or to otherwise maintain the integrity of the site. We will not sell or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to any third party without your consent except to the extent that we are required to do so by law. That extent may be extended to include on going or prospective legal proceedings.
7.3 The website may also use aggregated information to track the total number of visitors to the site, the number of visitors to each page of our site, and the domain names of our visitors' Internet service providers. No personally identifiable information is available in this process.
7.4 The website may use "cookies". A cookie is a token that a server gives to your browser when you access a website. Cookies are capable of storing many types of data. Cookies help provide additional functionality to the site or to help us analyse site usage more accurately. For instance, our server may set a cookie that keeps you from having to enter a password more than once during a visit to one of our sites. Such notifications must be accompanied by specific links. Requests for blanket deletion will not be considered. 7.6 As a convenience to our visitors, the website currently contains links to a number of sites that we believe may offer useful information. The privacy policies and procedures described here do not apply to those sites. We suggest contacting these sites directly for information on their data collection and distribution policies.
You only have one pair of eyes - You can never take your eyesight too seriously.
Laser and Refractive Eye surgery although easily accessible e.g. in shopping centres and high streets, is not regulated. Do your due diligence well and consider having refractive surgery by a surgeon and clinic in whom you have complete faith and trust. Do your research well.
